When we look for a new destination we always have to visit local cafes and restaurants as most of our packages include a meal out. On our travels we came across a number of food and wine related activities that we thought our clients might enjoy. As lovers of fine wine and good food we thought we should put meals and activities together and hey presto our Gastro Gourmet breaks where born.
Our Gastro Gourmet packages are designed to give you a culinary experience to be enjoyed yet educational, savoured and remembered. The activities listed below should introduce you to both the finest local produce and the tastiest recipes from Britain and beyond:

Dinner party in your cottage
Available everywhere
Sometimes it's good to get together with friends and family for your private dining experience, and whilst some restaurants can offer this service, wouldn't it be nice to have the restaurant come to you? We have recruited top local chefs to bring fine dining to your cottage. Your chef will arrive with one or more assitants and prepare and serve the meal for you in your cottage (of course they take care of the washing-up too).
Cocktail clinics
Available everywhere except Scotland
Our cocktail clinics are hosted by an experienced flair bartender and revolve around a master class with plenty of hands-on mixing. All guests get three drinks each (made by yourselves!), followed by a quiz with prizes. This package includes all drinks, glasses and ice as well as the bartender.
Wine tasting / Vineyard visits
Available for Bath, Bristol, Canterbury, Cheltenham & Tenby
With some real headway being made in the development of British wines, we thought it might be interesting to introduce our clients to some of the vineyards. You will be able to tour the complex, sample the finished article (maybe over lunch) and get a chance to purchase the produce. However if you are looking to increase your skills across a range of wines then we can arrange a tasting with a sommelier from one of the top local restaurants and your taste buds can travel the world.
Fine dining & gastro pubs
Available everywhere
In and around our destinations we look for restaurants and gastro pubs that may be known nationally but more importantly, have an excellent reputation locally. They should, where possible, be showcasing the best of fresh, seasonal and local produce. Great service is important as is a good wine list. Our final criteria is the feeling you get when you walk into a place, are you both excited at what awaits, and reassured at what you see? If yes, and it ticks all the other boxes, then Acacia wants to introduce this place to our clients.
Cookery lessons
Available for Bath, Bristol & Cheltenham
If you have a group interested in cooking, some of which may fancy learning some tricks of the trade or some may be more accomplished and would like to further develop their skills, Acacia Cottages can provide some help. We have sourced a few good chefs and venues where you can spend half a day, watching and participating in the preparation of a meal which you will then all get to sit down and enjoy (with some suitable wine accompaniment of course).
Gourmet hampers

Our Cottages are set in some of the finest countryside that Britain has to offer and it seems a waste not to get out there and enjoy it (weather permitting!). The Gourmet Hampers are designed just for this, to get you and your party into the fresh air enjoying great food and making the most of each others company with the perfect picnic.
You decide how to combine these activities however they are subject to availability so do check your destination and call us to check the dates. Please remember that you are not limited to just the Gastro Gourmet activities, you can combine these with any activities from our other packages (Relaxation, Vintage, Lady of the Manor, Thrill Seeking, or Citylife).
