Hen Do Theme Ideas

It’s all in the planning! To give the bride-to-be the weekend she deserves, a degree of forethought is required to make sure she feels super loved and spoilt. We’ve put together some packages which are available in most cottages to give you some hen party planning ideas

Choosing Your Activities

With so many activities available, choosing the right ones for your weekend can sometimes be a bit challenging. Whether you opt for the tried and tested or the latest craze, we have 8 top tips for making sure your hen weekend is just what you want.

1. Consider the bride-to-be

It is her weekend! It may seem obvious but you really don’t want to go surfing if she has a fear of water. If you are unsure, ask her. You never know, she may reveal she has a long burning desire to do something unusual like Burlesque dancing!

2. Factor in the hen group

Whilst you shouldn’t get swayed by the hen group if you are the organiser, it’s still a good idea to know your audience. Including pole dancing and cocktail workshops in your weekend adventures when you have a group full of pregnant hens, may not work!

3. Think about the budget

It would be amazing for everyone to have an unlimited budget so you can include anything you like on the weekend. Realistically though, there will be people who are watching the pennies. We find it best to establish what everyone is able to afford from the outset to avoid those awkward moments later on.

4. Plan the activity programme

Activities are fantastic; so is having time around them to relax, chat, enjoy the cottage and concentrate on the star of the weekend, the bride. When planning your schedule, factor in travel, getting ready time, food, recuperation, slouchy breakfasts and doing your hen party games.

5. Arrange transfers

Making things run as smoothly as possible is an important job of the hen organiser. Booking or organising your transfers in advance ensures you don’t have any last minute stresses.

6. Inform the hen group what you’re up to

We all like to have the right kit for the occasion. If you’ve arranged an afternoon of fun and games in a field or up a tree, make sure everyone knows to bring their trainers. Likewise, if you’re celebrating with a night out on the tiles, pack your paaarty clothes – whoop whoop!

7. Tell us your preferences

Once, you’ve chosen your activities, don’t forget to let us know if anyone has certain needs or preferences. We can talk with our suppliers to see if special requests can be accommodated.

8. Don’t forget the food!

We love the food part of a hen weekend, after all it’s the perfect time for the diet to stop and the indulging to start! If you spend the morning strutting your stuff in a Beyonce masterclass, you’ll definitely need sustenance to keep going for your afternoon or evening activities. Plan the weekend full of snacks, meals and drinks as you really don’t want a load of hangry hens!
