Bath, Bristol & Somerset

Bath Spa is a world heritage site. It is a beautiful city full of impressive and well maintained Georgian architecture. The counties of Wiltshire, Gloucestershire and Somerset all border this city and in their countryside you can enjoy a range of the more traditional outdoor pursuits. In the centre of Bath the streets and terraces are home to a variety of stylish shops and cafes, as well as some rather splendid restaurants. When you consider the racecourse (for a day at the races), the luxury spas, and the river (for messing about in boats), it's easy to see why Bath could be the destination of choice for you and your group.

The centre of Bath is famous for its Georgian town houses which dominate the streets and give the town it's most famous architectural sight, the Royal Crescent. The town is home to a wide variety of excellent shops from small boutiques to Jollys department store and all the usual high street names. There are plenty of places for tired shoppers to give their feet a rest and recharge their batteries however, if you really, really want to relax, why not visit a luxury spa? You could pamper yourself with a holistic therapy (maybe an Indian head massage) or indulge in a couple of beauty treatments (manicure and facial), or maybe do both?

When wandering through the city you could be forgiven for thinking you were in Europe. All year round people sit outside sipping hot chocolate and watching the world go by, then when they move indoors, they can be sure of sampling some culinary delights. Recently, Bath has been having a bit of a foodie revolution. For years there have been a few good places, known and frequented by locals, but there's now a wide selection of brasseries and top restaurants. Whatever your budget, you can look forward to an excellent meal (with our help of course).

For those wishing to make the most of the glorious countryside, you can choose from a selection of the more traditional country pursuits. Pony-trekking is always a good way for friends to spend some time together, particularly if your hack finishes at a country pub. Alternatively you may want to try your hand at clay pigeon shooting, or if golf is your game, then the area is well served by some very good courses. And finally, for thrills without the spills, why not spend a day at the races? Bath racecourse has meets throughout the year, all with their own glitz and glamour.

Bath is the jewel in the crown of the South-West, and it is encased in a beautiful landscape. The area and the city are picture postcard perfect but its beauty and quality are more than skin deep. With a lively centre, a buzzing nightlife and a great selection of activities, Bath is guaranteed to give you and your friends a break to remember.
